Bob Edgren
For Capitola City Councilmember

Occupation: Retired

What I bring to the Capitola City Council is over 40 years of business, personal and political experience in our city. Since 1974, I have witnessed many transitions and changes in Capitola. I believe my added asset of experiencing the past in Capitola is important in making future decisions.

I have been both a business and property owner in Capitola. Perhaps my most recognizable accomplishment was purchasing the old Mac’s Patio, building and business (currently Britannia Arms), and developing it with Palo Alto restaurateurs Ken and Carol Arutunian for their Caffe Lido establishment.

I am a graduate of San Jose State University with a BA degree from the journalism department. I have spent most of my career in the newspaper business, balancing with real estate investing.

Among the committees in Capitola I have been active in, including the Village Neighborhood Committee, Friends of Rispin, and dogs on the beach/park committees. I also participated in several planning workshops at the Jade Street Park Center.

There are many important decisions confronting Capitola, and I believe I can serve the community with my knowledge and background. Priorities would include traffic congestion, crime, 41st Avenue, the Rispin Mansion and preserving Capitola’s charm.
