The Santa Cruz County Clerk's Office will be at the student union on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 22 - 24 to register voters at UCSC.

U-Vote

I live in the dorms, where should I register to vote?

You need to decide if you want to register to vote using your home address or if you want to register to vote using your UCSC campus address. If you register to vote using your campus address, you will be able to vote here in Santa Cruz County.  If you register at an address that is not in Santa Cruz County, you will need to vote in that county or request a ballot be mailed to you from that county. We can help you contact the county where you live.

Where do I vote if I register to vote using my UCSC address?

For the June 5, 2018 California Primary Election there will be polling places located on campus where you can vote on Election Day during the hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. if you are registered to vote here. You will receive a County Voter Information Guide in the mail about 3 weeks before the election explaining all your options. You can also go online to www.votescount.com to find out where you vote.

I want to register to vote using my home address outside of Santa Cruz County?

If you are not going to be home for the election, about a month before the election, you must ask to have a ballot mailed to you at your UCSC campus address. Many counties allow voters to request a ballot online from their websites. If you cannot vote in person at your assigned polling place, you can ask your county elections official where you are registered to mail you a ballot. The ballot return envelope mailed to you with the ballot will be pre-printed with the address where the ballot can be mailed.

How do I return my vote-by-mail ballot?

One way to return the ballot is by mail.  If you return your vote by mail ballot by mail, the envelope must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the elections official by Friday, June 8, 2018.  Mail EARLY – mail can take up to 10 days.

Can I return my vote-by-mail ballot to the polling place or the campus drop box?

Another way to return the ballot is in person. California voters can return their vote-by-mail ballots to any polling site or the drop box located in Quarry Plaza near the bookstore. If you are registered to vote in another state, you must obtain a mail ballot and mail your ballot back to your home county or go to your home county to vote.

When is the Election?

The California Primary Election is Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
